VOLUNTEERS from Much Marcle have set up a Community Speed Watch after residents were concerned about the speed at which vehicles were travelling through the village.

The volunteers have been fully trained by West Mercia Police and are now giving their time to monitor traffic and raising the dangers of speeding locally as vehicles travel through the village.

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police explained that the Ross-on-Wye Safer Neighbourhood team would continue to conduct speed checks and enforcement where necessary and added: “It is with the help of volunteers that we are able to reduce harm and the fear of harm in our communities which result from road traffic collisions and failure to comply with traffic laws.”
