Artist Sharon Yorke grew up in Ross and has now returned to the area to live with her family.
Despite studying art at University in Manchester, her main creative outlet in her 20s was being a member of pop band, Pushka, which, although invited to play at Glastonbury, never really became as successful as the members wanted it to be.
When Sharon was initially studying art she concentrated on portraits, but then, a couple of years ago she purchased a piece of art which really inspired her to return to painting. She is inspired by nature and moods and works in mixed media and has had some success with exhibitions at Gallery 54 in Ross, the Canwood gallery and the Left Bank.
Her work features sweeping seascapes which come from her imagination as well as being inspired by the places around her, such as May Hill and Chase Woods.
She is now organising an exhibition at Ross Library. The exhibition opens on March 28th and Sharon would love people to visit. She told the Ross Gazette that her work is very reasonably priced because she believes that ordinary people should be able to own works of art.
