The council, in partnership with Balfour Beatty Living Places, is currently implementing traffic calming measures on the B4224 at Fownhope, as requested by the parish council.
The works include resurfacing, lining, installing signage and footway widening works. At the request of the Ward Councillor we have also extended the scope of the scheme to include essential resurfacing works which were not originally planned as part of this closure. This will not alter the advertised road closure but it allow us to use our resources as efficiently as possible and minimise future disruption to residents.
The works will be taking place under a planned road closure as of Monday 12 up to Wednesday 21 February 2024.
Monday 12 - Sunday 18 February; the road will be closed 8am - 5pm each day.
Monday 19 - Wednesday 21 February; the road will be closed 9.30am - 3pm each day, to minimise the impact on school traffic.
When the road closure is removed at the end of each day, two-way temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic during the evening and overnight.
Access will be maintained for residents and businesses within the road closure, although there may be a delay whilst machinery and equipment is moved off the road to allow vehicles to get through the closure safely. There will be dedicated marshals on site to assist with any queries about access.
Cllr Barry Durkin, Cabinet Member Roads and Regulatory Services, said: “These works are to install important traffic calming measures, which the parish council have requested. Every effort has been made to keep disruption to a minimum, and we’d like to thank residents and road users for their patience.”
The fully signed diversion route will be via the B4224 / Dormington / A438 Trumpet / A4172 Preston Cross / A449 / B4224 and vice versa
