A GATHERING of 56 tractor drivers convened at Treago Farm for the annual St Weonards Tractor Run in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance.

Building on last year's success, which raised £2,500, Ron Evans and his family hosted the event once again, welcoming participants from Herefordshire, Wales and Shropshire.

The day began with dedicated volunteers serving up tea, coffee, and homemade cakes to fuel the journey ahead. Mr Evans led the convoy on his trusty Massey Ferguson 135, embarking on the "Castles and Climbs" route.

The scenic journey unfolded across Treago Castle and through the estate's historic drive, ascending into St Weonards.

Traversing the A466 towards Sandyways, the procession navigated hedge-lined lanes and off-road farm tracks, passing Bagwyllydiart village before descending through Bannut Tree dingle with scenic views of Kentchurch Court and St Mary’s estate church.

Crossing into Wales, the convoy reached Grosmont, high above the Monnow valley, and continued towards Skenfrith along scenic routes by the Monnow, passing the ruins of a 13th-century castle.

Climbing towards Garway, cheers greeted the convoy upon their arrival at Beechlands Farm for a dinner break supplied by James Hughes of Pengethley Farm Shop. Applause filled the air for the volunteers who tirelessly marshaled, catered, and sold raffle tickets throughout the day.

After the break, the tractors continued, passing Glanmonnow House and heading towards Broad Oak and Welsh Newton. They navigated off-road through Hill Farm Ground and Llancloudy village, then looped back to St Weonards, crossing the A466 to return to Treago Farm.

The tractor run showcased the picturesque landscapes and historic landmarks of the region, while demonstrating the community's steadfast support for the air ambulance. The event united tractor enthusiasts and supporters of this vital charitable cause, celebrating each mile covered and castle climbed.

Approximately £1,700 has been raised, with more donations expected to increase the total.
