A TEMPORARY speed restriction is being introduced on a local road so that essential drainage works can be carried out.
Herefordshire Council states that the B4521 which links the A4137 at St Owens Cross with the A49 at Peterstow that the speed limit will be reduced from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour.
The council states that this measure is being introduced from the A49 to Wrens Nest, due to the likelihood of danger to the public whilst the drainage installation works are being carried out.
The council added that the works to upgrade the surface water drainage system, will be in place between February 3 and 7.
The order will cover the stretch of road with the restriction expected to be in force for five days.
Meanwhile drivers will be prevented from parking on various roads in the Greytree area of Ross-on-Wye. The roads that will be subject to Herefordshire Council’s prohibition of waiting order will apply to Nursery Road, Brampton Street, Brampton Road and Spine Road.
The new double-yellow line restrictions will cover a variety of spots on the four roads that came into force on January 20.
However, following the introduction of the new restrictions, the existing double yellow line restriction will be removed from the western side of Nursery Road, from a point of 24 metres north of its junction with Greytree Road for a distance of 10 metres.
The council stated that these new restrictions were necessary to avoid danger to people and traffic using the roads and to preserve and improve the amenity of the area.
The restrictions will also prevent vehicles from causing obstructions by parking opposite each other and will improve visibility and safety by vehicles from parking too close to junctions.
