TEENAGER Charlie Bowden has been raising funds all summer and is now officially on his way to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro.
Charlie, 16-years-old from Ross-on-Wye, is set to tackle the highest mountain in Africa in a bid to raise a significant amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Alongside his father, Charlie’s adventure began with a flight into Ethiopia, where he had a brief stopover before continuing on to Tanzania. The next leg of his journey will take him to the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Charlie shared his hopes for the challenge: “In October, my dad and I will be climbing Kilimanjaro in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. We hope to raise a huge amount of money for this fantastic charity.”
Inspired by his mother’s battle with bowel cancer, the trek will take him through rainforests and up steep mountain paths, eventually leading to the summit at 5,895 metres.
As they push forward, Charlie’s goal of raising £12,000 for Macmillan remains at the heart of the climb.
