In an atmosphere of joyous celebration, nearly 300 citizens of Ross on Wye, including numerous members of the local Royal British Legion branch, congregated at St Mary's Church on Sunday, 7th May, to partake in a special service honouring the coronation of King Charles III.

The day following the momentous event of the King's coronation, the community assembled to express their heartfelt gratitude for King Charles and his new reign as monarch. The event manifested the unity of the community and their shared optimism for the future under the new King.

Key figures attended the service, including the Town Mayor, Mr Ed O'Driscoll, who gave a reading, contributing to the gravity of the occasion. A significant message was also passed on by Mr Paul Deneen OBE JP DL from the Monarch's representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, which further enriched the occasion.

Following the poignant service that surely will linger in the memories of the attendees, the Town Mayor led a Loyal Toast, followed by a spirited three cheers for King Charles, infusing the crowd with enthusiasm and loyalty towards the newly crowned King.

Post the celebratory service, many attendees retired to The Prospect and surrounding areas to relish a family picnic, making the most of the cooperative weather. The day ended on a high note, with the community unified in their joy, gratitude and optimism for the future under King Charles III. A grand time was indeed had by all, marking the day as a cherished memory in the annals of Ross on Wye's history.
