A 54 year-old Soudley man who assaulted a police officer in Cinderford has been conditionally discharged for 18 months and ordered to pay £50 compensation to the constable.

At Cheltenham Magistrates Court Nicholas Smith of Church Rd, Soudley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Pc Ames, an emergency worker acting in the exercise of his duties, by beating on 8th May this year.

Smith was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £26 victim services surcharge.
