A?local man is in training for an epic four day cycle challenge in aid of Bike 4 Cancer, on April 23rd.

Simon Gwynne, the General Manager at Halo Leisure who is overseeing the upcoming refurbishment at Ross Swimming Pool, raised well over £300 while cycling at Hereford Leisure Pool last week.Simon is the youngest son of Roger and Marcia Gwynne, patrons at Ross Bowling Club.

Last Wednesday, Simon cycled all day in order to raise money and prepare for the 300 mile long event in April.

Starting in London, Simon will cycle to Dover on the first day (75 miles) before catching a ferry to France. Once on French soil, Simon will cycle to Abbeville on day two (80 miles). Day three will see Simon ride to Beavais, a 60 mile trek through hilly forested areas. Simon will ride the final 60 miles into Paris on the fourth and final day.

Simon said: "The last couple of years have really shown me the impact cancer has. A good friend was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and this drastically changed his life.

"Two close family members have also had cancer treatment this year, this hit home even more.

"I have set myself a target of £1,500. I plan to do a variety of events over the next four months and if you have any ideas or can support me in any way I would really appreciate it."
