LINTON Parish Council is considering a plan for the introduction of Quiet Lanes in the area.
Quiet Lanes are nationally recognised, and designations of single-track roads are where visitors and locals can enjoy the natural surroundings and use them for activities such as cycling, horse-riding, jogging and walking, without the need to worry about cars speeding pass them.
The two options being considered by the parish council in conjunction with Herefordshire Council is to provide a route between the main settlements in the parish with Quiet Lanes between Bromsash, Linton, Gorsley and Aston Crews which provides a link to the school, the bus stop in Gorsley and the community shop.
The extended route includes all the approaches to Linton, therefore providing a route to the bus stops at Hilltop and Jays Green as well as extending the Quiet Lanes proposal to include the areas of population in Gorsley, and Pound Farm Lane.
These new plans set out to make it easier for cyclers, walkers and others to be able to do what they love without any risk. The scheme doesn’t prohibit cars from travelling along the roads, but would be at a speed that would ensure the risk to pedestrians of meeting speeding motorists along single lane tracks would be reduced.
If drivers do not drive slowly and carefully down Quiet Lanes, motorists can face being prosecuted and fined, depending on how fast they may be driving.
