Shaun Jones of Ross Bowling Club has become the World Indoor Under 25 Singles Champion.
The Finals of the WIBC World Indoor Under 25 Championships were held at Llanelli Indoor Bowling Club, Wales on Friday October 28th. Shaun, who plays his Indoor Bowls at Malvern Hills Indoor Bowling Club, came out on top beating all other competitors from around the world.
"This is a fantastic result for Indoor and Outdoor Bowls as Shaun has represented Ross Bowling Club and Herefordshire County at the English Outdoor Bowling Championships at Worthing this year," said a delighted Marcia Gwyne of Ross Bowling Club.
Shaun's path to World Champion status over the final rounds was a smooth one.
The results were: Wednesday, October 26th Men's Singles Section B Shaun beat Connor Rabey from Guernsey 7-5 12-2. At the semi-finals on Thursday, October 27th he beat Ross Owen, Wales 9-4 9-7. And finally, on Friday, October 28th for the Men's Singles Final Shaun beat Irish opponent Darren Atkinson 9-4 2-10 2-0.
