John Kyrle High School’s Canadian touring party of Year 10 and 11 students donned their aprons to serve up a tasty selection of curries to over 170 guests recently, as a fundraiser for this summer’s netball and rugby tour to Toronto.
A thoroughly entertaining quiz, organised and run by John Kyrle stalwarts, Mr Ball and Mr Goodes, tested everyone’s knowledge on all things Canadian.
At the interval, Leanne Simms and her team of helpers served up a choice of mouth-watering curries and accompanying sides which kept everyone coming back for more. The touring party acted as hosts for the evening by serving food, clearing tables and washing dishes to help the evening run smoothly.
A total of £1,500 was raised for the tour which will help fund excursions in Toronto and the surrounding area such as Ripley’s Aquarium and Canada’s premier amusement park, Canada’s Wonderland.
The school is very grateful to Leanne and her team, for organising and catering for such a successful evening. Thanks also go to Orles Barn and Catering with Caire, without whose crockery and cutlery it would have been impossible to feed the masses.
