The local branch of the Royal British Legion have invited local companies, community groups and individuals to get involved in their new ‘Silent Soldier’ campaign by sponsoring and displaying a Silent Soldier to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, from now to the end of December 2018.
The Ross Garden Store has sponsored a ‘Silent Soldier’ and it has been displayed at the entrance to the store.
The store is also encouraging donations to the Royal British Legion at this time, and all will be very gratefully received.
More than 1.1 million British and empire service men and women gave their lives during the First World War so that the future generations could live theirs. The Royal British Legion aims to ensure that everyone has the chance to pay their respects to those who gave so much. The Silent Soldier silhouettes will appear across the country as the 100th anniversary approaches.
If you would like to sponsor one for your business, or as an individual, please contact Jason, the Poppy Appeal Organiser, by email: [email protected]
