It is never easy to make a move after a long time in the same location. So it is with Ross Town Band who, after 21 years based at the Ryefield Centre, have made the short move to a new home for rehearsals at the Larrapurz.
Of course, it’s not only the players which have had to make the move, there are all the instruments and an extensive music library too.
Certain structural changes were needed for storage and the members are very grateful to Bradford Building Supplies, Walford Timber, Travis Perkins and the Ross Men’s Shed for all their help with this.
The search for a permanent musical director is ongoing but while they are looking they have been grateful for expert advice and conducting from Paul Ainsworth of the Lydbrook Band.
The band was recently in concert supporting the Royal British Legion, which was reported in the Ross Gazette of October 17th. Included in the programme was a fantastic singer, Annie. If you are able to attend the Band’s Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 8th, you can hear Annie again, along with a varied selection of brass music.
New players are always most welcomed. Maybe you’ve played in the past and are a little “rusty”or perhaps you want to start a new hobby? Of course if you are a competent and experienced player you will be extemely welcome. The training band meets on a Friday evening at 6:30pm, an hour before the main practise.
