ROSS Photo Club recently held its’ final Print competition of the season.
This was an ‘Open’ category competition allowing members to submit photographs of their choice. Submissions were taken on digital cameras and smartphones.
The judge was Dave Russell, who is the chairman of Cardiff Camera Club and has gained ‘Artist’ level of the Federation of International Art Photography. He gives talks on Photography and delights in judging many competitions.
He gave feedback on all of the entries submitted, which was appreciated the Ross Club photographers.

First place in the colour photo section went to Paul Dowgill for his image of Winter Light, Derwent, the runner up was Jennie O’Brien with her submission Oh My A Nut, and Paul Dowgill also obtained third place for his image of Assynt Dusk.

Highly Commended in this category were Barbara Nash and Mike Webb while Chris Hawkins and Gordon Hay were commended.

In the mono section John Crowland takes first place with his image of a woman and a horse, entitled Two Beauties. The runner up was Mike Heiden with his photograph of Quayside, while John Ryland is third with his image of trees entitled Defenceless.

Highly Commended in this section were Paul Dowgill and Allan Ockenden and commended were Chris Hawkins and Barbara Nash.

The photographic club has been hosting competitions over the autumn and winter months as part of its weekly meetings. The club enjoys seeing what members have created using a huge range of cameras or smartphones.
The club also benefits from having guest speakers, covering a range of photographic aspects.
Ross Photo Club meets on Wednesday evenings at Walford Village Hall, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. There are free tester sessions for new members. Beginners and accomplished photographers are all welcome. Just go to the website rossphotoclub.org for more information.
