THE Ross-on-Wye Photo Club recently held its second print competition of the 2024-25 season with the theme being ‘Autumn’.

Submissions were taken on digital cameras and smartphones. Some 40 entries were assessed by the judge, Rob Heslop, from the Forest of Dean Camera Club who gave a fair and constructive feedback on all entries both for the colour section and the mono Section.

The photographs of the first three places for the colour and mono sections are shown here together with a list of all those who were placed.

Ross Photo Club meets on Wednesday evenings at Walford Village Hall, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

There are free tester sessions for new members. Beginners and accomplished photographers are all welcome. Just go to the website rossphotoclub.org for more information

Colour photo section: The winner was John Ryland with a view from a gloomy pond; Runner up was Chris Hawkins’ submission Reaching Up while Paul Dowgill was third with his photograph entitled Langdale.

Highly commended were Jennie O’Brian and Chris Phillipson and commended were Linda Thomas and Dation Churchill.

In the mono section Mike Webb’s picture of a lawyer’s wig was in first place with Chris Hawkins’s lonesome leaf as runner up. Third place was Brian Challis photograph through the trees.

Highly commended were Jennie O’Brian and Allan Ockendon with Gordon Hay and John Crowland being commended.
