A Ross-on-Wye opticians marked International Assistance Dog Week (August 5th – 11th) by raising nearly £120 for Guide Dogs UK.
Those visiting Specsavers, Gloucester Road on Friday, August 10th, were greeted with sweet treats while staff carried out specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in return for charitable donations.
“It was great to celebrate International Assistance Dog Week this year and lovely to have some furry friends visiting the store,” said store director, Lee Thomas.
“Fundraising activities are always popular during the summer holidays; it was great to see the children getting involved. We’d like to say a big thank you to those who supported the fundraiser and donated.”
Guide dogs provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. The charity also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eyecare and funds eye disease research.
