The children at Kings Caple Primary Academy were delighted to have a team from BBC Children in Need, accompanied by Pudsey the bear, visit them on Monday, November 12th. Pudsey talked to all of the pupils about what Children in Need is, what the charity does and how the money that is raised is used and what it goes towards.

The famous bear has been travelling all around Herefordshire to visit Primary Schools up and down the county to discuss Children in Need and pose for photographs with the children. Pudsey and the Children in Need team also collected all of the donations raised by the local Primary Schools.

Last year, in doing this, members of Children in Need, along with Pudsey, managed to collect over £30,000 from schools across Herefordshire and Worcestershire alone. This year, they hope to beat this achievement.

The children at Kings Caple Primary Academy enjoyed a day of wearing spots, and dressing up like Pudsey. The children each brought in £1 to wear non-school uniform and to have less school rules. The school managed to raise just over £40, and the money was handed over to Pudsey.

Pupil, Sophie Smith, said: “It was great to raise money for such a good charity because they help lots of children who are disadvantaged. I loved not having to do any writing for the day!”

The Ross Gazette recently visited Lea Primary School and Ashfield Park Primary School to take photographs of Pudsey meeting the children there. To view all of these photos, visit www.rossgazette.com.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
