AS AUTUMN approaches, Ross-on-Wye is leading the way in Herefordshire’s six-week celebration of the apple harvest.

The festivities begin with the much-anticipated Ross Cider Festival, taking place at Broome Farm from 30 August 30 to September 1, setting the stage for a rich programme of autumnal fun.

The Ross Cider Festival is a highlight in the local calendar, offering a weekend of craft cider tasting, live music, and delicious food. Visitors can enjoy the best of Herefordshire’s cider culture while soaking up the charming surroundings of Broome Farm.

For those eager to dive deeper into Herefordshire’s cider heritage, Visit Herefordshire is featuring expert-led tours with the world-renowned Ciderologist, Gabe Cook, who has recently returned to his roots in the county.

His tours and tastings, starting from just £25 per person, provide a fun and informative exploration of the local cider scene. Additionally, Gabe will be hosting a Cider Dinner on September 14 at The Green Dragon Hotel, where local ciders will be paired with a seasonal menu.

As part of the apple harvest celebrations, there are also a variety of other events taking place across the county. Hereford AppleFest, launching on September 28, promises free live music, artisan cider, and family-friendly activities throughout the city.

For those who prefer a more active way to experience the cider culture, Visit Herefordshire offers Cider Circuits—self-guided cycling or driving routes that wind through the county’s beautiful orchards and villages.

Ross and the surrounding areas offer something for everyone during this autumn’s apple harvest celebrations. The events in Ross and beyond provide the perfect opportunity to engage with Herefordshire’s rich cider heritage.
