The public footpath between Homs Road Car Park and Metcalfe Close has been temporarily closed due to concerns of safety.

A public notice has been issued and attached to the fencing. The notice says:?“It appears to the County of Herefordshire District Council, known as Herefordshire Council, that, because of the likelihood of danger caused to the public by an unsafe bridge, there is urgent need to close this footpath with immediate effect in the following terms:

• The effect of the Notice is to close public footpath ZK9 at OS Grid Reference SO 5979, 2450 as shown on the plan.

• This Notice shall continue in force for a maximum of 21 days.

• The alternative route is as shown on the plan.

“Nothing in this Notice shall prevent at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the highway or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from and only from the highway.”

A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “The bridge has been closed as it requires a surface repair. We expect this to be completed this week and then reopened. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The footpath was still closed as of Tuesday, August 28th, when the Ross Gazette went to print.
