In 2005 schoolboy Matt Beddard lost his fight with cancer but every year since, his family and friends have raised huge amounts of money for charity in his memory.
This year Caroline Ward from Ross Health and Fitness organised a special Nail Art Day and raised £600. This was matched by a special scheme £1 for £1, up to £500, so a total of £1,100 will be sent to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
This is the most Caroline has ever raised at her Nail Art events, which she holds every year, and she is very grateful to everyone who supported the event. She told the Ross Gazette: “People pay to have their nails painted and have nail art too and the fee includes tea or coffee and plenty of home made cakes.
Matt’s family is very grateful to Caroline Ward and Anne Hennessy for doing the nail painting, Morgan Smith and Erin Button for doing the nail art. Matt’s Nan, Pauline Greenwold for selling raffle tickets and Lesley Rogers Davies and Julie Sleeman who made the refreshments and to everyone that supplied raffle prizes and bought tickets.
Melanie Beddard added: “Special thanks to Caroline for her unending hard work in making this annual event so special and raising funds for such a brilliant charity, TCT.”
