After a successful 2023 holding their ‘Community Outreach Programme’, Ross Junior FC is continuing the programme into 2024.
The ‘Community Outreach Programme’ includes initiatives such as PAN Disability Football, which engages adults and young people with disabilities, and ‘Slipper Football,’ through partnerships with care homes, day centres, and dementia groups, held on a Friday.
This programme focuses on inclusivity by creating opportunities for members of the community ordinarily unable to access a mainstream football environment.
A spokesperson from Ross Juniors FC said: “‘Slipper Football’ is one of our most popular activities. We have residents, who usually opt out of activities, attending and looking forward to Fridays.
“One of our residents even asked for the football to be extended to daily activities.
“This really is a fabulous volunteer-led community activity.”
To give back to the group for providing the service free of charge, Westbank Residential Home, sponsored the young Ross Juniors FC team kit.
