Ross-on-Wye Heritage Walks draw large crowds, leading to a successful grant for an interactive heritage app set to launch in Spring 2024.
The recent Ross-on-Wye Heritage Walks have seen a surge in popularity, attracting a mix of residents and visitors keen to delve into the town's rich history. The success of these walks has led the Town Council to secure a grant from the UKSPF Cultural Programming fund. The grant will be used to develop an interactive heritage app, aiming for a Spring 2024 launch.
Various themed walks were offered to participants, each shedding light on different facets of the town's history. One such walk explored the riverside and its significance to Ross-on-Wye. Another offered insights into the hidden history within the town centre. Additionally, an augmented reality tour was available, using an app and devices provided on the day to reveal aspects of the town's history that have faded with time.
The final tour, scheduled for the end of October, promises to showcase the impressive sculptures around Ross. The app, once developed, will offer a series of interactive heritage trails around the town, further illuminating Ross-on-Wye's rich cultural history and past events.
