A sea of hands will stretch around Herefordshire on March 20th when the Hands Up campaign for fairer funding for the county's schools will reach a climax.
Starting in Ross at 10am displays of handprints from pupils across Herefordshire will be set up across the county to illustrate the impact of the poor funding that our schools have had to face. These displays will be of handprints from pupils across Herefordshire.
With the day fast approaching, volunteers from Vinvolved are collecting the completed display hands from their schools and preparing them for mass display on Saturday.
Some schools are decorating their hands, whilst others are asking pupils to write messages of support for their school on individual hands.
Campaign organiser, Lucy Hurds, is co-ordinating the day, with volunteers setting up six displays in Hereford and the market towns. The displays will be unveiled one by one, throughout the day, starting by the swimming pool in Ross, and ending in Hereford.
Vinvolved will be working with Scouts, Guides and Cadets to set up the displays.
The Rural Media Company will be recording the events in order to make a short film, which will be sent to Westminster with a county-wide petition and Lucy Hurds' proposals for fairer funding in rural counties such as ours.
