Local Primary Schools have been welcoming the BBC’s Pudsey the Bear to talk to them about Children In Need. Members of BBC Hereford and Worcester Children in Need visit Primary Schools all over Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the run up to Children in Need day to raise awareness about the cause.
On Tuesday, November 6th, Lea Primary School and Ashfield Park Primary School students learnt about what Pudsey represents, what Children in Need does and who the charity money goes to.
The school captains at Lea Primary School, Molly Savidge and George Suehr, arranged a cake sale to raise money for Children in Need. In addition to this, they arranged for all of the pupils to have a non-school uniform day wearing spots like Pudsey, bring in their teddies, and wrote the letters home to parents explaining what the school was doing.
George told Pudsey: “I want to raise money because other children are not as lucky as us. Some are even on the street. I want to aim to help everyone have a normal life, and a better life.”
The school captains gave Pudsey the money they had raised so far, which came to over £180. The school are excited to count up the rest of the money they fundraise through selling the rest of the cakes.
The pupils at Ashfield Park Primary School welcomed Pudsey over the course of their lunchtime, where they showed him their dance moves and explained what they are doing for Children in Need this year. They are also still counting up the rest of their donations, and hope to raise even more than last year.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
