A LOCAL business that has helped over 1,400 families bond with their babies through massage, yoga, and reflexology has expanded to offer sessions in Clearwell and Newent.
Mama & Me, founded in 2020 by Kayleigh Spencer-Tonks, was born out of her personal experience as a first-time mother during lockdown.
Now, the business is bringing its much-loved baby classes to more parents in the Forest of Dean, continuing its mission to create connections and build a supportive community for new families.
In 2020, Mrs Spencer-Tonks’s life changed forever when she welcomed her son Roman into the world on May 23.
Amidst the challenges of navigating early motherhood during a pandemic, she struggled with the isolation that many new parents faced when traditional support networks and social opportunities were unavailable.
"I wanted Roman to experience social situations for his development, even though it was so difficult during those times," she shared.
This led her to discover her true calling—baby massage and yoga. In December 2020, she took the step of booking an Infant Massage and Yoga teacher training course, completing it early the following year.
As a certified instructor, Mrs Spencer-Tonks quickly realised the profound impact her classes could have, not only on babies but also on the parents who felt isolated or overwhelmed in the early stages of motherhood.
Since launching Mama & Me, she has furthered her training and qualifications to ensure she offers the best care and guidance to families. She is now a qualified Infant Sleep Consultant, Baby Gym Teacher, Baby Reflexology Teacher, Colic & Reflux Specialist, and Weaning Specialist.

With the support of two midwives, Sara Pickett and Lucy Gabb, who joined the team in 2024, Mama & Me has now expanded into the Forest of Dean, offering new sessions in Clearwell and Newent.
The Forest of Dean sessions are held at Clearwell Memorial Hall on Mondays and at Chamber 22 in Newent on Thursdays. The upcoming five-week term will include a special Mother’s Day session, offering parents a chance to celebrate together while deepening their bonds with their little ones.
Additionally, family classes are available, providing a unique opportunity for second parents or family members—such as dads, grandparents, or aunties—to get involved. This approach ensures that those who may miss out on these precious moments due to work commitments can still participate.
The growth of Mama & Me is a testament to the power of connection, shared experience, and the commitment to supporting parents in the crucial early stages of their children's lives.
With the expansion into Clearwell and Newent, more parents in the Forest of Dean can now experience the benefits of the business's nurturing and supportive environment, helping to combat the feelings of isolation many new parents face.
As Mama & Me continues to grow, all involved remain passionate about creating an inclusive space where parents can thrive. Those interested in joining can easily book their classes through the Mama & Me website, ensuring a seamless and accessible experience for all.
