Proposals to construct a third lane on the southbound approach to the A40/A466 Wye Bridge junction at Monmouth will be on display at the Shire Hall next week.

This is one of the suggestions being put forward by Monmouthshire County Council to improve this junction, which links the town with the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.

The public exhibition is hosted in partnership with Monmouthshire County Council and the Welsh Government at Shire Hall, Agincourt Square on Friday, July 7th from 11am to 7pm and Saturday, July 8th from 10am to 5pm.

The exhibition will display measures to reduce traffic congestion and minimise delays as well as improvements to pedestrian access by connecting the town to communities living and working on the east bank. Improvements will be achieved by constructing a third lane on the southbound approach of the A40 and upgrading the subway approach ramps. Representatives from Monmouthshire County Council, Welsh Government and consulting engineers WSP/Parsons Brinkerhoff will be present to talk and listen to the public about the proposals.

County Councillor Bryan Jones, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for highways said: “We understand the frustration that congestion and delays on the Wye Bridge junction cause to drivers and communities in Monmouth, the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. I welcome these proposals and urge the public to take time out to visit the exhibition.”
