A LARGE group of local residents representing the 89 members of the Hawthorne Field Action Group are hoping that the response to the Referendum on April 2 will be a resounding yes in favour of the local Neighbourhood Development Plan
One of the areas for potential development identified within the plan is land off Middleton Avenue, known as Hawthorne Field, Ross-on-Wye.
According to the NDP this land should be used for a development of up to 16 houses, allotments and a green space on this site but developers have submitted a planning application for 44 single and two storey dwellings.
Those opposed to the planning application say that overwhelming objections relate to traffic congestion and the potential danger to children and other pedestrians.
And they also consider that the project does not respect local character, biodiversity or the environment.
