An application to change the planning permission for the Post Office and store at Tudorville, Ross-on-Wye, to residential use has been made to Herefordshire Council.
The owners say that changing shopping habits, a reduction in demand for Post Office services and the introduction of new measures by HMRC has led to their decision.
In the application Julian Thomas said: “We have loyally served this community for 18 years, far longer than previous owners, and therefore I believe we are entitled to a future in our twilight years.”
Ross Town Council has not objected to the application they said: “Members have no objections to the change of use and no objections to the enlargement/change in design of the property. However, members are saddened to hear of the possible closure of the Post Office and Stores.”
A decision is expected to be made by planning officers by July 10th.
