Herefordshire Council has announced that a referendum will be held on April 2nd to determine how Ross-on-Wye residents want planning applications to be considered.
The Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) was approved in late 2018 and kick-started the consultation process leading to the referendum.
The question being asked is: Do you want Herefordshire Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Ross-on-Wye to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?
The NDP aims to protect and enhance all aspects of the environment; provide new housing; protect, enhance and diversify the local economy; ensure an accessible and well-connected town for all and; protect, enhance and diversify the town’s social and cultural assets.
The plan states that the town centre will continue to be a focus for retail, commercial, leisure, cultural and tourism uses. Thus, proposals for new or changed uses which contribute to the vitality and viability of Ross-on-Wye will be supported.
Various sites have been allocated for development, including Cleeve Field, Merrivale Lane and Stoney Stile.
