THE theme of ‘Camouflage’ was Ross Photo Club’s first digital image competition of the year.

The category proved to be very challenging for the members. Submissions were taken on digital cameras and smartphones.

The judge was Phil Cooling who is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and has judged several competitions across the Three Counties.

He was particularly keen to ensure the entries kept to the theme of camouflage and gave very informed feedback on all submissions both for the colour section and the mono section.

Ross Photo Club meets on Wednesday evenings at Walford Village Hall, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

Paul Dowgill took the top honours in the colour section with his composition ‘Blending In’, the runner up was John Crowland’s Green Damselfly and third was a picture of a female Red Grouse as photographed by Michael Webb. Matthew Rainer was highly commended for two images and three photographers John Crowland, Gordon Hay and Linda Thomas were commended for their efforts.

Nigel Winters was the winner of the mono section with his photograph of Blending in with the Dummies while Gordon Hay was runner up with the House on the Hill. Paul Dowgill was third with a photograph of a little owl. Highly commended in this category were Jennie O’Brian and Michael Webb with Gordon Hay and Matthew Rainer being commended.
