SOUTH Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman has been named shadow leader of the Commons in the new shadow Cabinet announced by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.
The position involves working with the Leader of the House in arranging Commons business, and holding the government to account in how it runs the House.
Commenting, Mr Norman said: “This is a great step forward, and all the better for seeing another glass ceiling smashed.
“But now the work really begins, as Kemi and the wider party begin the process of renewal.”
Mr Norman has held several previous government posts including at the Transport, Foreign Office and Treasury departments.
Robert Jenrick, Ms Badenoch’s opponent in the leadership ballot and who owns a manor house in Herefordshire, has meanwhile been made shadow justice secretary.
