Those who spend time at the Community Garden in Ross-on-Wye enjoyed a week of music recently, with visits from local musicians and some members bringing in their own instruments to play.

The sun was shining on Friday, April 12th, when Simon Royle and Beth Underwood joined the team at the Community Garden to accompany them with relaxing music. Both from Ross-on-Wye, Beth played the flute and Simon played the guitar.

The gardeners requested certain songs and sang along to their favourites. Tim Shelley, Project Leader, told the Ross Gazette that he wanted to combine the two relaxing things, music and gardening, to help create a tranquil space for those in the Garden.

As well as her flute, Beth brought an array of percussion instruments for the gardeners to try, and everyone was able to have a go at creating their own music.

Tim said: “Playing instruments, like gardening, is something that a lot of people think they can’t do because they’ve never done it before. We’ve combined the two in an accessible way where everybody can have a go.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
