An original member of the legendary Herefordshire band, Mott the Hoople has died at the age of 69. Pete Overend Watts passed away peacefully at home after a battle with throat cancer.
Mr Watts, who was born in Birmingham, moved to Herefordshire in 1960. He attended Ross-on-Wye Grammar School, where he met future bandmate, Dale 'Buffin' Griffin, who died last January, after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Mick Ralphs, who suffered a stroke last year, Ian Hunter and Verden Allen now remain from the classic Mott the Hoople lineup, best known for their 1972 hit ’All the Young Dudes,’ a single gifted to the band by David Bowie.
