Motorists wanting to travel from Bishopswood to Walford or Ross during the day face a long detour for the next six weeks as the road is closed to allow for repairs to a land slide which has kept the road at one lane for many months.
The landslip occurred in January 2013 and at that time Herefordshire Council said:?"The land concerned is owned by a private landowner, who is working with the council and his insurers to explore options for making this bank permanently safe and secure."
According to the contractors, MF Freeman, the work to build a retaining wall to prevent such a thing happening again, will start on Monday, July 14th, when the road will be completely closed for four days. Work will then continue for six weeks with the road closed from 8.30am to 5.30pm, but the road will be open to allow traffic, controlled by lights, to pass the site, between the hours of 5.30pm and 8.30am.
