The restoration of the mosaic on the wall of Ross-on-Wye Library has reached another stage. All the pieces which fell off, as well as all the loose ones, have now been cemented back on and the spaces filled in with grout. It now looks almost identical to how it looked originally.

Rosie Callinan, the mosaic artist at Made in Ross, researched the best type of cement to use and found a flexible one which should allow the wood base to move a little (as wood does when it is in the elements). The grout chosen is also designed for outside use.

This section of the mosaic represents the River Wye on its journey from the Plymlimon Hills and was designed by the children of Whitchurch Primary School. Rosie delivered the restored panel to the Library this week and the management there will now arrange for it to be put back in place.
