Last week, the Ross Gazette published two photographs of the Whitchurch Association Football Club, taken after the 1949/1950 season had ended.
The team had a successful year, winning the Ross League Hospital Cup, the Ross and District League Division 2, and the HFA?Junior Cup. The were also the runners up in the HFA Burghill Cup.
The Gazette named the players in the team photograph, but in a second picture, the footballers were joined by other members of Whitchurch AFC. We asked if any readers were also to share their memories of the club.
Joyce Forward got in contact with the Ross Gazette to identify some of those pictured in the second photo. She said:?“My father, Alf Walters, stands to the right and back of the goalkeeper. His brother, William Walters is on the very end on the right. In the front row, in the middle of the three men kneeling is Sam Hutton.”
