A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident in Hereford this morning (Friday 12 July).
Officers were called following a report that a woman had been raped in the grounds of Hereford Cathedral at around 3am.
The man is in custody whilst enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Ben Pearson of West Mercia Police said: “I understand that this incident will cause significant concern within the local community, but I’d like to reassure the public that we are carrying out a thorough investigation.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, and may have seen anything or have information or dash-cam footage, which may help with the investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
