NATIONAL Highways have given notice that it will be removing hazardous trees on the M50 between junctions two and four.

The contractors will work overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday, February 24 to Wednesday, March 5 weeknights only.

To carry out their work safely and remove the ash trees suffering from dieback, will necessitate closing the M50 westbound between junction two (Bury Court) and junction four (Traveller's Rest roundabout, Ross-on-Wye).

They will also need to carry out further hazardous tree removals on the eastbound carriageway between the same junctions in due course.

It is anticipated that this work will start in March following the completion of the work on the westbound carriageway.

National Highways will share further information when its programme is confirmed.

During closures, National Highways will install a fully signed diversion route via the A417 and the A40. However, access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout their work.

National Highways apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience this road closure may cause.
