THE award-winning New Inn at St Owen’s Cross has added another accolade to its collection as it has been listed for its Sunday Roast by the respected Good Food Guide.

The pub’s collection of recent awards includes obtaining AA Rosettes and being voted the Midlands Gastro Pub of the Year 2024.

The Good Food Guide’s ethos is about empowering diners, helping readers and members to find the very best places to eat, and encouraging restaurants to offer the best possible food, service, and experience.

It has listed the pub as being one of the top 50 places in the UK for the best Sunday Roast

Whilst the guide often uses a team of inspectors to compile its lists of recommended eateries, this time it organised a public vote. Diners were invited to vote for their favourite Sunday roast venue and to explain why it was so special and deserving of being awarded Best Sunday Roast status.

Thomas Leak, the New Inn’s head chef, said: “What an incredible honour for all of us here to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation and to be placed in the top 50 in the country. We love seeing family and friends come together at The New Inn to spend quality time with each other whilst enjoying a fabulous Sunday roast.

“We’re proud to serve a hearty meal here, always with plenty of veg, Yorkshires, roast potatoes, and of course lashings of gravy. A special thanks to every single person who took the trouble to vote for us.”

The gastro pub provides an informal drinking and dining experience and prides itself on using delicious, locally sourced ingredients when possible.

By winning another award, the rural 16th -Century coaching inn continues to help to further cement Herefordshire’s rightful place on the coveted Midlands foodie map.

Mr Leak said that as well as the food that the pub serves it has a friendly and very warm welcome feel to it as soon as you step through the door and added: “It’s a great place to meet with friends and family to share delicious food and drink together.”
