Welsh Water recently welcomed the Hereford MP, Jesse Norman, to its Broomy Hill Water Treatment Works (WTW).

Mr Norman, who has just been appointed as the UK Government’s Minister for Energy visited the site on Friday morning to see the centre which supplies drinking water to tens of thousands of customers in the city of Hereford and an extensive rural area including Ledbury and Leominster.

Mr Norman was given a tour of the treatment works which takes water from the River Wye before it is cleaned and treated and distributed to customers through its network of 27,000km of water mains – enough to stretch to Australia and back.

Welsh Water has invested extensively in Broomy Hill Water Treatment Works to ensure customer receive the highest possible drinking water quality.

Welsh Water project manager, Jack Davidson, said: ‘We were delighted to welcome Mr Norman MP to the Broomy Hill Treatment works. As well as explaining some of the processes and challenges we encounter on a day to day basis, we also had the opportunity to explain how the investment at Broomy Hill benefits our customers in the surrounding areas."

Jesse Norman MP commented; ‘"Welsh Water is a remarkable company, which ploughs back all its profits into long-term investment and consumer benefit. It was a great pleasure to see their water treatment site at Broomy Hill; and the water it produces is excellent, as I can testify from long experience!

"But I also had a chance to see the investments which Welsh Water have made there, and the daily challenges they face to ensure high-quality water supply to the city and the county."
