LIGHT up Linton is back for another three-day spooky stint in the village this year.
Over 300 carved pumpkins are being staged and displayed along the lane between the Alma Inn and Linton Village Hal with each will being lit up by volunteers from between 5pm and 8pm, each evening, over the nights of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday October 27, 28and 29.
The event has been organised Lin Forward and she has involved several local schools including St Joseph’s Primary School in Ross-on-Wye and Bridstow Primary School. The students carved the gourds, after which they are collected by the volunteers and transported to Linton.
Many tens of children have also been involved this year as well as various dedicated residents and anyone else who wants to try their hand.
Over the three nights Hanks’ Meat and Game will be in the village serving delicious burgers and the Alma Inn will also be open for drinks.
Ross First Responders will be in the village along with the police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team who will be in attendance on the Tuesday evening.
Competitions are being run for best carved pumpkin and a hunt the Spooky Spider competition. The best pumpkin carved by an adult could win a fish and chip supper for two, donated by the Alma Inn.
Visitors are being asked that when they make their way to view the illuminated pumpkins, to throw some coins into the collection buckets whilst enjoying the atmosphere, after all it’s quite a sight to see.
All proceeds from the generous sponsorship of the pumpkins will be going to the two chosen charities for 2024, which are Ross First Responders and Linton Brownies.
