A Christmas tradition which has been taking place in Ross-on-Wye for about 60 years returned to the Market Place on Saturday, December 17th.
Hundreds of fans of Father Christmas gathered in the centre of Ross to meet the man himself, during his very special early visit. The Ross Town Band entertained the growing crowds before members of the uniformed organisations, including Cubs and Brownies led Father Christmas, accompanied by several friends including the Carnival Princess, on his float. He travelled along Broad Street waving to the expectant crowds.
Several new visitors to the event questioned how long it would take Father Christmas to meet and greet all the children eagerly waiting to see him. However, due to the efficient organisation of the arches, manned by members of Welsh Newton Young Farmers, it was very speedy. And obviously it was good practice for the big night when Father Christmas has to visit every house around the world.
