Hopes Ash Farms, Hope Mansell, near Ross-on-Wye, opened their gates for the 11th Open Farm Sunday on June 5th. Over 1000 visitors were welcomed to the farm to enjoy a free day out in the countryside.
Visitors could watch the cows being milked by robots and sheep shearing demonstrations. They could also enjoy the farm trail or cider tasting. The farm’s milk buyer, Arla, had a big presence on the day with a farm quiz and product sampling station which proved very popular. Younger visitors loved the play barn where they could have their face painted, make a wildflower seed bomb and play in the grain pit or bale climbing frame.
An amazing £1000 was raised for The Midlands Air Ambulance from the sale of cakes, coffees and lunches.
Rachel Davies said “We would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit our farm and hope they all had a great day finding out more about how we produce food and care for the countryside”.
The family are very grateful to their sponsors Arla, Faccenda Foods and Magners Cider for their generous support of the event.
