The farming industry’s annual open day, Open Farm Sunday, is taking place this year on Sunday, June 10th.

Hopes Ash Farm at Hope Mansell near Ross-on-Wye will be opening their gates, 10:30am until 4:30pm, along with hundreds of other farms across the country, including Weir End Farm.

Open Farm Sunday is a great free day out for the whole family and provides a fantastic opportunity to find out more about how farmers produce food and care for the countryside.

During a visit to Hopes Ash Farm you will be able to meet the dairy cows and watch them being milked by robots. There will be machinery to see, cider to taste and a sheep shearing demonstration. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the farm’s many wildlife areas on the farm trail. Children can have fun in the play barn with face painting, bale climbing frame, grain pit and craft table. Teas, coffees and cakes will be available all day with a BBQ over lunchtime. All proceeds from the sale of refreshments will go towards a defibrillator for Hope Mansell.

“My family and I are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our farm so people can discover for themselves the real story behind their food” said Rachel Davies of Hopes Ash Farms.
