Herefordshire Council is actively looking for 20 volunteers from all walks of life across the county to join their Climate Team.
A spokesperson said: "From farming, health, social care, education, retail, industry, transport, construction, retirees, young people… We’re especially interested in volunteers who haven’t previously engaged in climate action, but are now keen to start. We will provide all the support you need."
The team’s climate challenge will be two-fold, to:
-Work with others in your area to think through and collate ideas about what can be done to reduce emissions in Herefordshire
-Try to reduce your personal carbon footprint by 20% over the coming year – and share the ups and downs of your journey to help inspire others
The Climate Challenge Team’s work will feed in to the development of the County Net Zero Carbon Action Plan, which will be completed by the end of 2020.
As a member of the Climate Challenge Team you will have opportunities to: Get together as a team regularly to discuss and contribute ideas, receive sector-specific support, and try to reduce your carbon footprint by 20% over one year and receive individual support.
You will be able to share your experiences of reducing your own carbon footprint, working in small groups to focus on specific sectors (e.g. health, farming, industry…) to think through what can be done in each sector to address the Climate Emergency.
