THE generous owners of five green homes in and around Ross-on-Wye are opening their doors to visitors as part of a countywide project.
The Herefordshire Green Open Homes runs on October 12, 19/20 and 26/27 where visitors will be able to experience energy efficient, comfortable, low carbon homes that are cheap to run, and learn how to achieve it.
There's a 1910 terrace in Ross, a rubble stone barn conversion in Linton, a 1990s home in Mitcheldean, a new build in Llangrove and a timber frame passive house in Three Ashes.
Between them visitors will be able to see big insulation works, high spec renewable heating and electricity, sustainable building materials and low-cost improvements. Green Open Homes is run by charity Marches Energy Agency with support from Herefordshire Green Network.
There’s a host of benefits in making a property green – as well as saving money on energy bills, you can increase comfort levels in your home, cut your carbon footprint, and make both you and your home healthier by dealing with any mould and damp issues.
But where do you start? This is why Green Open Homes has provided this wonderful opportunity to visit some of the loveliest ‘greenest’ homes in Herefordshire.
It will be an opportunity to learn all about them from their owners who have taken the plunge and improved their homes.
