Pupils at Walford School led a moving ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new school entrance and classroom last Friday.

Members of years four and five said thank you to every individual who had supported their school and had helped in any way towards securing the new extensions. They had even prepared a tin of cakes for the builders to share as a way of saying thank you to them.

MP Jesse Norman was invited to the school before the grand opening to be grilled on the duties of an MP by pupils. Surrounded by all the various people who had played a part in the work he then cut the ribbon to mark the opening.

Headteacher, Louise George was supported by her mother and brother, as well as the staff, governors, architects, builders, members of the PTA and Councillors.

The MP and the new leader of Herefordshire Council then hot-footed it to Whitchurch Primary School for the official opening of the new nursery unit, Tiny Beginnings.

Parents and guests were welcomed by Jenny Sparks, Chair of the governors, headteacher Claire McKeown and the managers of the nursery Bridget Reeves and Kate Guy-Coombes.
