A bumper number of students celebrated their BTEC Sport & Exercise Science examination results at Hereford Sixth Form College recently. Every student passed the course with strong grade performances. This included Georgina (Georgie) Jode from Goodrich, who is a former John Kyrle High School pupil. Georgie achieved triple Distinction Stars.

The BTEC Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels and the College is the biggest centre for this qualification in the region. Many ex-students go on to leading universities offering sports-related courses.

Georgie is taking a gap year before continuing her studies at university in 2017. She spoke to the Ross Gazette about her BTEC course. She said: “I found the course really interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The tutors were easy to talk to and the facilities on site really helped throughout the two years. I was also a member of the Hockey Academy and my ability and performance really improved.”

Head of PE, Andy Douthwaite, said: “The BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science is a challenging programme which requires students to work solidly over the two years in a range of sports-related academic disciplines. This particular group has excelled and, through a combination of commitment and hard work, has produced our best ever set of results.”
