A LLANGROVE golfer is set to take on a marathon challenge by playing 36 holes and walking over 26 miles in one day, all in aid of charity.
Chris Harris will be starting at dawn on 28th June and after completing his first 18 holes at Monmouth Golf Course.
Chris’ trek, complete with a full golf bag across his back, will see him set off from Monmouth to Upton Bishop, via the picturesque Symonds Yat and Kerne Bridge to arrive at the South Herefordshire Golf Club where he will tee off and play his second 18 holes of the day,
The keen golfer has set himself this marathon task to raise money for a Herefordshire charity, Strong Young Minds. The organisation works to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of young people in the county.
The charity offers help and support to those in the county aged 10-26 years, facing the challenges of mental ill health, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, and bullying.
Chris said: “I’m honoured to be raising money for a very worthy cause, making such a positive difference in young people’s lives. I hope to complete this challenge in daylight hours, as long as I don’t spend too much time in the bunker.”
To boost his fundraising Chris is also hosting a Llangrove Quiz Night in July. To donate to Chris’ challenge, visit thelonggolfwalk.co.uk.
